HG: These are designed to improve a horse's balance over uneven or slippery terrain. Most often seen in eventing, polo and showjumping. This model is a sharply pointed conical stud particularly useful on hard ground.
5mm: Also called 'road' or 'flat' studs, these give extra grip on flat terrain
10-20mm: Mud/Deep Footing Studs - Mud studs are also bigger than road studs. They are used on very soft or wet surfaces on which deep traction is desired, and they come in various shapes. They're designed to dig through the top layer of mud to get to solid footing.
